Course Information

VALVE FUNDAMENTALS
A valve is a mechanism used to control the flow of a fluid—that’s a gas, liquid, or liquidised solid—from a higher to a lower pressure area. Valves come in a variety of designs and types suited to different mediums and applications.

Valve Fundamentals covers the basics of valve knowledge. By the end of the course you will be able to:
- Describe what valves are and explain what they are used for
- Describe the four basic ways that valves work
- Identify the most common types of process valves
- Describe key features of common valves, their principles of operation and applications
- Explain the advantages and disadvantages of each type of valve
There will be a short assessment at the end of the course where you will receive a certificate of completion if you attain a pass level. (Don’t worry there is the option to retake the assessment should you need to!)
